Brenna & Charlie - Paradise Valley Country Club Wedding

Brenna was referred to us by a previous bride (hugest compliment ever!) and I feel so lucky that we were able to be a part of this special day and help in executing one spectacular event! From the massive tent, to the floral chandelier, to the espresso martinis and the fireworks. Brenna had a vision for EVERY detail! This was definitely one for the books and I am so excited to finally share all the beauty captured by Terra Ong Photography! I would not be doing the event justice without a shout out to Bright Rentals for the tent and Inspired Environments for playing a HUGE role in all design aspects and for executing the beautiful rehearsal dinner as well!

Meaghan & Brent - El Chorro Wedding

There are definitely some couples that you just really connect with and get to know during the planning. Full plan weddings are my favorite and not just because we get to help with everything but because I have the chance to really get to know my clients, their likes and dislikes, their personalities and humor. I was so excited for the chance to work with Megan and Brent during their entire planning process and just love the two of them so much. It helps that they were trusting in my vendor recommendations and had fantastic taste as well. Enjoy these special moments and details captured by the amazing Annie Randall Photography!

Aimee & Erik - El Chorro Wedding

It was so much fun to start the fall season with Aimee and Erik's wedding at El Chorro!  They knew exactly what they wanted for every detail, and the entire bridal party was involved!  The maid of honor and best man surprised the bride and groom with a choreographed toast and involved the entire family for a hilarious rap.  Peaches were sporadically placed throughout the space to recognize Aimee's Georgia upbringing and they even included their dog in the wedding.  Congratulations to the amazing couple, we were honored to be a part of such a special event!

The 2016 A Day to Cherish Weddings Team

Well, 2016 is winding down and I am LONG overdue at posting this but wedding season came and swept us up with client meetings, rehearsals and wedding after wedding. Now that we have a bit of time to catch up, I want to share a special post! Without these ladies, I (Cara) could never survive. They help me keep ADC in motion and are my saving grace on each and every wedding.

The girls here at A Day to Cherish Weddings love to see everything come together on wedding day, from hair and makeup, to the dress, to the decor and to the perfect vows.  We also love getting all dolled up and posing for the camera!  Usually, we are running around behind the scenes, but this summer, we had the chance to relax and unwind at the beautiful Omni Resort at Montelucia and spend some girl time taking new team photos.  HUGE Thanks to the talented Sarah San Marco and Tracee Clemons for some outstanding makeup, and to Annie Randall Photography for capturing our awesome team.  We had so much fun getting dressed up and just being together.  We hope you enjoy these photos as much as we do!

Rebecca & Barrett - El Chorro Wedding

This dress!  That is all I can think of when looking through these photos of the gorgeous couple.  Rebecca's dress was incredibly beautiful while being so clean and simple.  I just love it!  These two love birds were gracious and kind, and we just loved working with them.  Their simplicity transferred throughout their ceremony and reception with delicate flowers and clean, crisp decor elements.  I hope you enjoy today's post as much as I do!

Guest blog - Save The Date Trends

Today we welcome Bryan from Shutterfly to our blog with some great tips and information on Save the Dates!

What Impression Are You Looking to Make With Your Save-the-Date?

Ah, the save-the-date. Some dread it, some can’t wait to design it and some simply wonder if it’s actually necessary to send what’s essentially a pre-invite invite. The short answer is yes, the save-the-date is an essential component of the wedding planning process, and it’s one you really can’t afford to skip. Here’s why.

For starters, the save-the-date is intended to be sent long before the actual invitation, especially if some of your guests have to book flights and hotels and clear time off with their places of business. Your guests will appreciate you giving them a heads up ahead of time about your special day, and they’ll be that much more likely to be able to make it if you send them notice enough in advance that they can keep their calendars clear. The save-the-date also helps set the tone for your special day, so use it as an opportunity to let others in on what it is about you and your betrothed that helps you stand out from the crowd.

Like wedding dresses and hair styles, save-the-date trends come and go. Whether you’re looking to take a traditional approach with a well-designed card or magnet or go for broke with a bold photo book or other offering, the save-the-date gives you a chance to make a lasting impression on your desired guests. Here’s a look at some current save-the-date trends, and what your choice may say about you.

Classic Cards With Accompanying Photos

Keep in mind when designing your save-the-dates that whatever design you go with will likely be displayed on the refrigerators of dozens or even hundreds of your closet friends for weeks or months on end. A classic and popular choice is to go with photo-emblazoned save-the-dates. This not only gives you and your betrothed an opportunity to showcase what stands out about you as a couple, but it also gives you a chance to set the tone for the wedding itself. Planning a big, backyard barbecue? Consider a picture of you and your spouse-to-be in casual cowboy boots. Going for a fancy, suit-and-tie soiree? Go with an upscale shot of the two of you at your last special function. Whatever image you choose to portray, your save-the-date gives you a great chance to showcase something special and unique about you.

Digital or Smartphone-Friendly Save-the-Dates

Sustainability-minded individuals sometimes turn to digital save-the-dates as a way of saving money, time and Mother Earth all at once. Something like an evite, digital save-the-dates get delivered straight to your desired guests’ phones, eliminating the need for postage, paper and expensive designs. While digital save-the-dates are great for the eco-conscious, they unfortunately are not without their downfalls. For example, some older generations may not use smartphones at all, or they may use them sparingly and not understand how to view a save-the-date if received. It’s a good idea to follow up with these individuals if you choose to go this route to avoid hurt feelings and make sure everyone is aware that they received notification about your nuptials in the first place.

Music-Accompanied Save-the-Dates

Some couples choose to send CDs or similar music selections as save-the-dates to give guests an idea of what’s to be expected at the upcoming ceremony. Planning a jazz-era swing party? Share some tunes that’ll help get your guests in the mood. Hiring a favorite local band to provide the sounds? Give others a taste of what they’re in store for and give your favorite band a little free publicity at the same time. Save-the-dates with a musical aspect not only give you and your spouse-to-be a unique opportunity to let others in on some of your favorite sounds, but they also give guests a little something fun to do once they pull the save-the-date from the mail.

The Passport-Inspired Save-the-Date

Planning an overseas wedding in far-off locale? Give your guests a look at what lies ahead with a passport-inspired save-the-date invitation. Not only does this make it glaringly obvious that a destination wedding is in store, but it also helps get them excited about joining you in a special, far-off location when you say your I-dos. Passport-inspired save-the-dates are not simply limited to cards, however – consider a magnet design, or combine it with a musically accompanied save-the-date if the situation warrants. For example, planning a seaside soiree in the Caribbean? Send a save-the-date CD that plays island tunes in a case that boasts a passport design. Even if you and your fiancée aren’t planning a destination wedding, a passport-inspired design is great for showing potential guests that you love to travel or share a sense of adventure. Just be sure to put the place where you’ll be married on the invite, even if you don’t have an exact venue nailed down – people need to know if you’re marrying in, say, Europe, ahead of time, so they can start to plan (and likely, save) accordingly.

The save-the-date presents a great opportunity to let others in on what’s special about you as a couple, so find something uniquely you, send it in plenty of time for your guests to make arrangements and then cross one very important wedding-planning step off your to-do list.

Best Photo Locations in Scottsdale, Arizona

We have a guest blogger this week!! We had George Street Photography contact us about partnering with us on our blog to reach out to our readers for wedding inspiration! George Street Photography specializes in photojournalistic wedding photography and videography. Check out some advice from them on where the Best Photo Locations in Scottsdale, Arizona are located!

"If there was an award given for the ‘Most Enchanting City in the Southwest’, there’s no doubt that Scottsdale would take the cake. It’s the type of spot where natural elegance blends with organic beauty. And with sunsets setting over miles of magical desert landscapes and mountain ranges, it’s no wonder so many Arizonans flock here for their photo sessions!

Looking for the scoop on the best places to shoot? Here are our go-to’s!

Scottsdale Civic Center Plaza: In love with love? Then, you’ll adore this area’s hallmark attraction — the LOVE sculpture! Fountains, ponds, flowers and lush greenery are also sprinkled across the park, and are perfect for a sweet romantic feel. You may want to schedule an early morning session if you stop here, as that’s when the plaza is least busy!

Papago Park: Scottsdale is known for its stunning red rock ranges, and this park is the ideal place to catch a glimpse of them! Strike a pose in front of one of the park’s stunning small lakes, or take a walk down one of the hidden bike paths. You may even spot a giant saguaro cactus! If you’re looking to change things up, the Phoenix Zoo is right around the corner, as well.

Desert Botanical Gardens: While you’re making your way around Papago Park, be sure to stop over at the Desert Botanical Garden! It’s an outdoor nature museum that’s filled with exotic desert plants and the most beautiful views. Truly a little slice of paradise!

TPC Scottsdale: Home to the WM Phoenix Open, one of the most renowned golf tournaments in the country, this course is packed full of history and gorgeous scenery — from rolling green hills to priceless views of the McDowell Mountains.

McDowell Sonoran Preserve: Our list simply wouldn’t be complete without a mention of this Scottsdale mainstay. If you’re looking to get away from the hustle & bustle of the cityscape, in exchange for a little peace and tranquility, this is the place to be. Most of all, it’s the perfect reflection of the natural beauty that makes this city so special. Say Your 'Goodbyes' to Boring Exercise

We sent our intern, Allison, out on a little fitness research and asked her to blog about her findings. Enjoy!!

We all know that a bride wants to look her absolute best on her wedding day and for many that may mean losing weight and/or toning up! I don't know about you, but sometimes the gym trips can get a little stale, so I've set out on a mission to try out new things to mix up your workout routine.

1. FLYoga - Aerial Yoga @ Ra-Yoga in Phoenix, AZ

This is one of my new favorite things! Aerial yoga uses silk slings that hang from the ceiling to allow yogis to do several inversion poses that would take YEARS of practice to perfect in a regular studio. If you've ever seen the silk acrobats at the Cirque Du Soleil, it's kind of like that. And it's not as hard as it sounds! It's a killer core workout and all the inverted poses are very energizing! Also, the inversion poses decompress your spine and with a regular practice, you can gain as much as an inch in heigh! To top it off, the studio itself is amazing in its humanitarian efforts. Each class is offered for free with the hopes that you'll donate to which all the proceeds go to non-profit organizations. $5 is the recommended dontation. Where else can you find such a fun exercise class for so cheap? Ra also sells apparel, which is all organic and American-made.

2. Pole Fitness - Fitness to Nutrition in Tempe, AZ

I just tried my first pole fitness class this week thanks to a wonderful Living Social deal of 3 classes for $29. A drop in class at Fitness to Nutrition is usually $20, which is actually considerably cheaper than other pole studios in the Valley. They constantly have deals on their classes too, so watch out on Groupon, Living Social, Amazon Local, and the like. The intro class is so incredibly fun! Everyone in the room has fun with it and no one takes themselves too seriously. Really, it's okay to laugh at yourself for trying so hard to be sexy; that's a reason this would make a great bachelorette party! Everyone is goofing around, while getting a great upper body workout! The intro class teaches pole safety, conditioning exercises, and most exciting - spins! It's actually not nearly as hard as it seems like it would be and if you want to take it to the next level and learn climbs and inversions, you can sign up for a series after just a few beginner classes. And really, what sort of groom wouldn't LOVE a pole dancing bride?

3. Exercise on Vacation!

It's summertime and you're bound to go out of town at least once, but don't fuss about squeezing in gym time while on vacation. I brought my running shoes with me to Minnesota this month and never found a spare second to go for a run. INSTEAD, I focused on doing activities with my friends and family that would incorporate a workout. Spending all afternoon on the lake could have been wasted sunbathing, but instead I kicked up the activity by swimming, wake-boarding, and kayaking. When you are on vacation, there are tons of options for fun ways to get fit. Headed to the beach? Schedule a surfing lesson. The mountains? Take a hike, or hit the slopes in the winter. When I was in San Francisco recently, my boyfriend and I rented a tandem bike and rode across the Golden Gate Bridge! Not only was it a great way to see the sites, but it simultaneously gave us 2 hours of exercise ON TOP of all the walking around we did at Alcatraz and Fisherman's Wharf.

The best way to keep your workouts from getting stale and to stop your progress from plateauing is to mix it up and TRY NEW THINGS! Now get out there and sign up for that boxing class you've been eyeing or the trapeze lessons you've always been interested in testing out! You're bound to work out new, different muscles and tone up!

There's an App for That

Appy Couple

For all our tech savvy brides, we have a fun idea for you! Heck, you don’t actually even need to be that tech savvy. A couple months back, we learned about Appy Couple! It’s just like a wedding website, where you can upload your wedding info – date, time, where you’re registered, bios, RSVP, etc., ONLY it makes your very own personalized iPhone or Android app. It’s easy to set up (though an invite is required . . . and easily obtained via e-mail) and there are lots of options for theme customization, then it’s on to the really fun stuff. You can upload photos and set event themes and colors. And the app even has a picture slider game, wedding countdown, and a champagne toast bulletin board where guests can upload their happy wishes for the couple! Guests can also add pictures from their own collections to the bride and groom’s albums or listen to songs from the various wedding celebrations – ceremony, bachelorette party, bridal shower, etc! It’s a fun and unique way to put your own spin on the newly traditional wedding website (which it co-creates), while incorporating technology that is on-the-go, just like a busy bride like you.

A Dress you really CAN wear again!!!

So, we all know it's a part of being a woman. It happens to most of us, at some point in our life. It may be right out of high school, it may be soon after those crazy college years and for some of us, it may not be until we reach that 30th birthday or beyond! Yes, it's true, we are almost all asked to be a BRIDESMAID... many girls find this an honor and a very fun task for our greatest friends, others, well just dread the whole thing! Regardelss of which type of bridesmaid you are we ALL end up in the same situation when we wake up the next day and look at that dress. What am I going to do with this thing? I'm never going to wear this again (regardless of how hard the bride tried!!).

Well ladies, I may have a solution for you! I am SO excited about this discovery!! Because frankly, I LOVE to shop, but can't always do so as frequently as I would like (it's that silly little thing called bills). As listening to the radio, I heard the DJ mention this website and immediatley (I waited for a stoplight of course:)) pulled out my phone and looked it up.... http://www.newlymaid.com . It's so simple, so easy and you actually get something in return for all those bridesmaid dresses hanging in the closet collecting dust! You go on the website and request a mailer, ( I am waiting for mine to arrive any day!!).  Once it is received, pull out those old dresses, as long as they have no snags, rips or stains newlymaid will take them! You send the dresses in to receive credit toward the purchase of one of their Little Black Dresses. I don't know about you, but I wear black A LOT, and these simple LBD's are perfect for me! And to get credit towards the purchase? Genious. I love this idea, I love this website and I can't wait to make my first purchase. Not only do you get a versatile LBD in return, your old dresses go to a great cause www.clothes4souls.org . Check out the dresses below (they change every few months!).

And here you go, just for some comic relief and proof that even wedding planners fall victim to the bridesmaid dress curse, some pictures of our staff at thier finest! Please note that although we are NOT that old, most of these pictures have been SCANNED from actual prints because they don't exist digitally! (Don't laugh please! OK, you are allowed, just this once....)

How To: Have Fun Getting Ready

The time you spend preparing to walk down the aisle should be just as unforgettble as the actual event. Here are a few ideas on how to make the process fun and memorable.

1. Decide Who Will Be There

It takes quite a while for everyone to have their hair and makeup done, and to get on all your dresses. Make sure to surround yourself with people you know will make the day stress free and fun. If you're stressing out while getting ready, it could put a damper on the rest of the day.

2. Personalize the Space

You'll want the room everyone is in to be tranquil and calming. Burn some candles to take the edge off and add a festive atmosphere. If candles aren't allowed wherever you're getting ready, try some reed diffusers.

3. Set the Mood

Getting ready can feel like being in the locker room before a big game. To add to the fun mood, have each bridesmaid burn a CD of songs that are inspired by memories they share with you, it will lighten the stress and get everyone laughing and reminiscing.

4. Supply Snacks

A big mistake many brides make is not eating much on their big day, usually do to the high stress. But that is a bad idea, as a balanced sugar level keeps stress under control. Keep fruit or veggie platters in the bridal suite to munch on throughout the day without creating a mess or filling you up too much. Also, having water, juice, and soda on hand is a good idea to keep everyone hydrated.

5. Keep Entertained

Set a cheerful mood by playing a favorite movie in the background if there is a TV. Drink some herbal tea, which can help calm nerves. Ask each of the bridesmaids to contribute a favorite pampering product to a tray for everyone to share. Bring pictures from your bachelorette party and wedding showers to pass around while getting ready, it will be fun to reminisce in anticipation of the day ahead of you.

Most importantly, have fun! This is one of the most important days of your life, don't let the stress and nervousness be the only thing you remember.

You Can Totally Wear That Again!

Most of us have a few pretty bridesmaids dresses hanging in our closet that were worn once for a few hours and then rarely glanced at after. When are you ever going to wear them again? Ah, but it is possible. Here are a few ideas on how to "re-wear" a bridesmaid dress. With the right accesories, an old dress is good as new. Orange Dress

Beige FlatsGold BanglesGold Necklace

A pretty peachy orange dress can be made to be less formal with some good accesories. Pair it with some low key beige flats, gold bangles, and an orange necklace for a chic look that no one will ever guess was once crammed in the back of your closet.

Blue Dress

White CardiganSilver RingWhite Sandals

Aqua blue looks really great with white accesories. A summery sleeveless dress can be worn again for fall if paired with a cute cardigan. Some casual sandals and a pretty cocktail ring make this a perfect outfit for a daytime party or meeting with friends.

A floor length dress can easily be made more wearable by...

Black Long Dress

Shortening it!

Black Short Dress

Crystal BraceletBlack ClutchSilver EarringsBlack Peep Toes

A shorter version of this dress makes a good "night out" outfit. Paired with a bold bracelet, some statement earrings, and great heels the outfit goes from plain to wow!

You see, with the right additions an otherwise overlooked dress can become a new wardrobe staple, you totally can wear it again!
